Ingredients Sourcing

Our Approach

We carefully select the ingredients that go into our products and work with trusted suppliers to gain greater insight into their origins, drawing on recognised certifications as part of our sourcing processes. Through collaborations such as the Cocoa and Forests Initiative, Sourcemap, Save the Children and Arla FarmAhead™, we participate in initiatives designed to protect the environment and support farmers and local communities across our supply chains.

Working with our partners and suppliers we focus on supplier due diligence, supply chain traceability and visibility, certification and standards, farming practices and communities.

Supporting communities

Since 2017 together with Save the Children, we work with cocoa-growing communities in Ivory Coast by helping children access education and basic healthcare, improving birth registration systems and supporting family livelihoods through training and incentives for women-led businesses.

By the end of 2025, this Save the Children program had already reached more than 48500 people, of which 16000 children.

In addition to the Save the Children program, by 2025 through the initiatives implemented across our cocoa origins we contributed to renovating or building 155 schools to promote children access to education, and enrolled 4345 out of school children in bridge classes.

Milk Sourcing

We source our milk from selected suppliers and we work hand in hand with some of them to implement on farm programs and financial incentives that support farmers in their efforts to reduce the climate footprint of their milk production. In January 2025 we expanded our partnership with Arla by joining their FarmAhead™ Customer Partnership programme, under which participating Arla farmers are incentivised to take sustainability related actions on their farms.

A part of the cocoa we buy comes as raw beans, which we process in our factories and source as physically traceable from the farm to our factory. The raw cocoa beans we buy are all certified through a mix of different standards and certifications.

For externally processed chocolate products, our suppliers may blend certified and non-certified cocoa. However, they guarantee that for the volume they deliver to us, they source a matching minimum equivalent certified cocoa volume.

How we trace our ingredients

Being able to trace our ingredients to their origin, and along every step of their journey from farm to our factory, is important to ensuring quality and responsibility in their sourcing.

Traceability for the ingredients used in Kinder includes:
