We carefully select the ingredients that go into our products to ensure quality and freshness, while also sourcing them responsibly - respecting the people and communities we work with and minimising our impact on the environment.

SAVE THE CHILDREN pROGRAM IN Ivory Coast

Since 2020 we partner with Save the Children to support the protection and development of children in cocoa-growing communities in Ivory Coast.

In 2023 the program already reached 18,342 people of which 6,403 children. 

In addition to the program with Save the Children Ferrero has contributed to renovating or building 103 schools to promote children access to education, and enrolled 1196 out of school children in bridge classes.

Sourcing milk responsibly

We are committed to sourcing our milk responsibly, protecting the environment and the communities we source from. That’s why, in partnership with our suppliers, we invest in our milk supply chain, including the dairy farms, by implementing programs designed to improve its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

How we certify our ingredients

Most of our cocoa comes as raw beans, which we process in our factories and source as physically traceable from the farm to our factory. Because beans come from different farms this cocoa is a mix of different certification standards.

For externally processed chocolate products, our suppliers may blend certified and non-certified cocoa. However they guarantee that for the volume they deliver to us, they source a matching minimum equivalent certified cocoa volume.

How we trace our ingredients

Being able to trace our ingredients to their origin, and along every step of their journey from farm to our factory, is important to ensuring quality and responsibility in their sourcing.

More Farms Tracking, Less Deforestation

In partnership with Sourcemap, we carry out targeted satellite monitoring on the farms that we source our ingredients from, which includes a verification of non-deforestation. In 2023 this monitoring resulted in:

We use tools like farmer mapping and satellite monitoring to ensure they are not connected to deforestation.
