Tasty quality

From ingredient’s selection
to quality products

We care about every little detail in the making of our treats.
This starts with carefully selecting the best ingredients for our recipes. We work together with trusted suppliers and farmers with whom we have often built long term relationships, to source ingredients responsibly and ensuring that their quality meets our standards.

We then combine the ingredients in our factories to create our recipes, leveraging the expertise we developed for over 50 years to preserve the best taste, texture, flavour, and nutritional characteristics.

our CARE FOR QUALITY

We monitor taste, quality and safety at every step of the way through safety, quality and taste controls on our ingredients, semi-finished products and finished products globally.

The journey of milk: from farm to recipe

Milk is one of the ingredients that gives Kinder products its unique taste, that’s why we take so much care in getting it just right, following closely its journey from the farm to our treats.

Collection

The journey starts at the farm where the cows are milked.

Immediate Cooling

The fresh milk is immediately refrigerated in tanks to slow down bacterial growth and maintain its freshness.

Bulk Tanks

The cooled milk is stored in large, insulated bulk tanks at the farm until it is collected.

Milk Tanker Trucks

Specialized insulated tanker trucks collect the milk from farms, keeping it cool during transportation.
Milk is typically collected within 24 to 72 hours from milking to ensure its freshness.

Quality Testing

Upon arrival at the dairy, the milk undergoes rigorous quality testing for factors like taste, temperature, acidity, and contaminants.

Pasteurisation

The milk that passes the quality testing is pasteurised bringing it to a temperature of 72°C for a few seconds to kill any harmful bacteria and extend its shelf life.

Separation

The milk is separated into cream and skim milk, which are recombined in specific proportions in some of our recipes – like Milk Slice or Pinguì – all within 48 hours from milk production.

Drying process

For some of our recipes, like Kinder Chocolate or Kinder Surprise, we need dried milk. In this case the liquid pasteurised milk is dried through a technique called spray drying, that removes nearly all its water content turning it into a powder.

Transport

Both the liquid pasteurized milk and the powdered milk are then transported to our factories, ensuring that they always remain in optimal conditions, and are then mixed with the other ingredients in the different Kinder recipes to create the Kinder treats that you love.
