sugar. for our little treats.

Sugar is a key ingredient in the making of sweet foods as it enhances their taste as well as providing structure and texture.

How we process our sugar.

In our Kinder recipes we use a unique blend of beet & cane sugar. Once the sugar beets and the sugar canes are harvested, they are delivered to our suppliers’ processing factories where they are washed and cut into thin strips to facilitate the extraction of their syrupy juice that is rich in sugars.

This juice is then filtered and heated to remove water and so that small crystals are formed and become bigger and more numerous as the product is cooled.

The crystals are then separated from the syrup in a centrifuge, washed and dried to become the sugar we all recognize and use every day.

When the sugar arrives in our factories, we conduct thorough quality tests to verify the size and purity of the crystals before we use them in our recipes.

We have a long-standing commitment to building strong, trusting relationships with the agricultural cooperatives and producers that supply our sugar.

100% of our cane sugar is sustainably sourced through Bonsucro. Bonsucro is a global membership organisation that promotes sustainable sugarcane production, processing and trade around the world. We have been members since 2010.
